The substance is obtained by polymerizing ethylene hydrocarbon in sealed containers under high pressure. It is used in the production of many different things: children's toys, plastic bags, pipes, etc. The material has such useful properties as cheapness, plasticity, resistance to temperature extremes and atmospheric precipitation, wear resistance.

Safety and transportation
The substance belongs to the 4th hazard class. With prolonged contact, it causes redness of the skin, irritation of the mucous membranes of the eyes and upper respiratory tract. The material should be handled in protective clothing, rubber gloves and boots, a respirator, and special glasses. Polyethylene is packed in four or five-layer paper bags and transported by covered road or rail. Store in closed warehouses.
